Supe 59 Pick

First time since I’ve been cognizant of what the Super Bowl is that I’m just generally not excited. Honest to goodness I might even have the laptop going with the third episode of “Bodkin” on Netflix if the game gets slow. Liking that “Bodkin”.

This is the hurt of a fan of the almost-made-it team. Perhaps the should’ve-made-it team. Still better than the never-had-a-chance season, but dang it hurts. I still love the sport and my Lions and I’ll be back in full force next year. But this was one of the years that 100% could’ve been the year and it just slowly fell apart. And now the task at hand appears to have been made at least slightly more difficult. We’ll see. For now, for today, there’s a championship game between two really excellent teams. Let’s hope for a goodie. Full disclosure: I have cherished family in Philadelphia, some of whom work for the city. I will be full-throatedly rooting for the Birds to take down the Chiefs. By the same token, I like witnessing truly flame-tempered greatness. It’s why despite him ending the Bad Boys, I couldn’t help but admire Michael Jordan. I made enough Jordan Bulls / Mahomes Chiefs comparisons last year. They ring even more true this year. So while I’m fully rooting for the Eagles and their admirably, insanely passionate fans, I cannot physically summon the will to bet against Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid until I see them get truly walloped like they got walloped by Tompa Bray. I truly and sincerely hope I’m wrong, and I pick the Chiefs minus the point.

Thanks for a great season, gang. I sincerely apologize Season 2 wasn’t nearly as fun or bauble-y as Season 1. I’m like “House of the Dragon” in that way I suppose. What can I say except: life circumstances can really throw a monkey wrench in the works. Be back next week with the Prediction Review and a brief preview of the Leo offseason. Be good, dear friends and readers. Auf Wiedersehen!
