Sadly, this is is gonna be quick-hit picks again. Though maybe that’s all for the better. It was only by sheer insanity that I limped to a 2-3-0 record last week, bringing the season record to 40-23-1. The record isn’t bad, but it somehow feels difficult to celebrate. The same can be said for the current Detroit Lions. I can’t explain the reasoning behind the malaise. Just like I can’t go into the reasoning behind these picks. But just trust that there is reasoning that exists behind the picks. And I deployed said reason with all the cunning my melon could muster. I’m fully aware of jinxes, reverse jinxes, double reverses and irreversibles; I’ve taken them all into consideration and their relevance to the motivation behind the picks themselves. It’s like A Beautiful Mind but bullshit instead of math. Without further ado, the candy lineup: the picks:
Lions (-3) @ Bears — Is your boy buying the W? Is it one of his favorite things to do when his team(s) is/are a weak favorite(s)? Maybe and maybe. Alim being out is a real kick in our collective nuts, and we were already kind of scrambling on deef. We eked out a lucky one, helped along by Bear incompetence, a few shorts weeks ago at home. Not sure we’re as lucky this time. Bears get it done against us today, gosh darn it.
Other Wk. XIV Games That Make You Go Yowza!
Texans (-3) @ Jets — Finally gonna go the other way on this Houston team. I think the Texans cover over a Jets teams whose defense must be frustrated beyond the point of playing their best.
Jaguars (+2.5) @ Browns — I kinda like the home dog Browns and the Flacco story to come through and I don’t trust that Trev Lawrence’s ankle is 100%. He looked pretty pained last week. Gimme those Browns if I can grab a few points.
Buccaneers (+1.5) @ Falcons — Something always draws me to betting against this Falcon team (full disclosure: I think it’s Desmond Ridder and how they don’t even seem to score more than 20), and if my preseason predicksh of a Bucs title in the South is to come that probably should start about this week. Baker and the Bucs pillage Atlanta on the road.
Packers (-6.5) @ Giants — One half of a rare double Monday Nighter! Why? No clue. Seems weird. Unwieldy. Regardless, I like the Pack to keep rolling. They especially seem to respond well to positive attention and they’ll get a lot of it before this game. Take ’em minus the shy touchie.
That’s all for this week. Enjoy this slate of games. Keep marching towards those holidays. Almost there. Auf Wiederesehen!
